IBC Compliant Stair Design The evolution of the IBC building code has created opportunities for IBC Compliant Stair Design. Porta-King’s PK Structures division has IBC Compliant stairs designed for easy installation and un-surpassed quality. The IBC now requires 42” high guards to be included on all stair assemblies. PK Structures mezzanines and towers incorporate the newest, most up to date stair design. All of our stairs are fully welded when they leave the factory. The PK Structures Stair has all clips and treads welded to it so that there are no loose items that require field assembly. All you have to do is to hold it in position and bolt it to the frame above. PK structures will custom fabricate a connection for you so that your new IBC Compliant stair will easily bolt up to whatever the existing structure may be. The rail system on a PK Structures stair arrives at your facility in fully welded panels that only require a couple of bolts (provided by Porta-King) to attach them to the stair and they are complete. This makes assembly literally a snap. The unique design of PK Structures Stair includes a 42” high guard as well as a hand rail on both sides of every stair.
